Hi, I'm Jason.
I'm a designer, videographer and photographer working in Southeast Michigan. I have a passion for marketing and storytelling, and enjoy combining these for the teams and projects I am a part of. Whether the work I create is still, interactive, or in motion, I bring effective communication and creative, consistent branding to your project.
Since high school, I have been interested in anything media related. I credit where I am today to my start in yearbook and newspaper where I learned photography and graphic design. Now, as the owner of JMW Creative I collaborate with businesses and non-profit organizations on nearly any design, video, or photography project.
Some current clients I am working with include Downtown Detroit Partnership who manages the parks in Downtown Detroit as well improves the general perception of the city. I also work with American Heart Association's Midwest Affiliate to tell survivor stories and market events. I'm also currently working with or have recently worked with Eastern Market Corporation, Build Institute, Oakland University, Brine Lacrosse, Warrior Sports, Michigan Good Food Charter, Michigan State University's Center for Regional Food Systems, Verde Media, Automation Alley, DTE Energy, Ford Motor Company through GTB, WeWork through Identity PR, Detroit IT, Engineers Without Borders-Detroit, Michigan Travels, SANLUIS Rassini, National Arab American Medical Association, and more.
Before deciding to work independently, I worked in Oakland University's
Communications and Marketing department as their Digital Strategy Manager. I worked with the digital marketing, publications, and social media teams to create general OU branding, as well as more specific web and video projects to promote the university. I've also worked on the marketing team for Grid4 Communications, a telecommunications company, where I helped to re-brand the business, and also for The Detroit News' design team.
I graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, MI with my B.A. in Studio Art and minor in Graphic Design. As a student, I worked as the Design Editor for OU's student newspaper. I received several recognitions by the university for my work with student organizations and the art department including the Undergraduate Distinguished Achievement Award and Student Service Award in Art and Art History. I'm currently an instructor in Oakland University's Center for Autism where I teach video, photography and design classes to students.
I have a wonderful wife, Angie and we love to travel as much as we can and visit new restaurants together. I also love to take photos of everything we see along the way.
