Eastern Market: Farmers' Journey to the Saturday Market

Eastern Market came to me to tell a story about their farmers to be shown at the Harvest Gala event they host annually. The goal was to show the farmers' hard work through the decades, years, seasons and weeks that it takes to get products to market. So over the course of a week, I woke up early and stayed up late following three farmers on that journey to the Saturday market. The story follows John with J&M Farm in Berlin Township, Brendan with Bielat Greenhouses in Richmond, and Erin with Nurturing Our Seeds in Detroit. Farming means something different to each of them, but Eastern Market is their common thread.

Build Institute: Build In Detroit

Build Institute is a Detroit non-profit organization who helps people turn their business ideas into reality by providing them with the tools, classes, resources, and a support network in Detroit. Build came to me to tell that story and also help promote their Patronicity crowdfunding campaign to support construction of their new Corktown office at Michigan and Trumbull. To help the story I met with several wonderful people who recently opened small businesses in Detroit –  Castalia, Detroit Vegan Soul, The Farmer's Hand, Folk Detroit, Kinnie Media Group, Mama Coo's Boutique, Ocelot Print Shop, Sfumato and Sisters Code.

Romulus Community Schools: We Are Romulus

Romulus Community Schools approached me to showcase their district – the pre-school, four elementary schools, middle school and high school – to increase student enrollment. We featured all of the age groups within the school district and highlighted everything from high school culinary classes to kindergarten recess.

Warrior Sports: Alpha QX Hockey Product Feature

This video was created for Warrior Sports for the launch of their new hockey product line, Alpha QX. The product line included the stick, gloves and protective shoulder/elbow pads. For the project I created a series of videos to promote each product indvidually and showcase the technology features in the new lineup.

Michigan Good Food Charter: Eat and Buy Local Campaign

This video was created for the Michigan Good Food Charter and Michigan State University's Center for Regional Food Systems to promote the importance of buying and eating locally grown foods. During the project, I met with farmers across Michigan to hear their stories about why the farm and the value local food brings to communities throughout the state.

A Masterpiece Revealed: Detroit Institute of Arts and Meadow Brook Hall

"A Masterpiece Revealed" is a 5-chapter documentary that tells the fascinating story of a 17th century painting re-discovered at Meadow Brook Hall and conserved by the Detroit Institute of Arts. Over the course of six months, I documented the progress of the painting through a behind-the-scenes look at the DIA's conservation labs.

The documentary begins with a history of Bartolomé Esteban Murillo's "The Infant Saint John the Baptist in the Wilderness" from its creation in Seville, Spain to its eventual home at Meadow Brook Hall in the 1920s. The re-discovery ignited a partnership between Oakland University and the DIA, allowing students to observe the scientific research and conservation. The painting will be on display for five years in the DIA's European Medieval to Renaissance Art gallery before returning to Meadow Brook Hall.

This video was created for Brine Lacrosse for the release of the new Dictator and Dictator ST lacrosse heads. Brine designed the new head with Major League Lacrosse player, Brendan Fowler. The Dictator is designed for defensive players and introduces several new technology features which improve consistency and durability.

American Heart Association: Luis Martinez Survior Story

Luis Martinez is a pastor at a church in Southwest Detroit. He and his Carmen always focused on helping their community through prayer but also health education. After Luis had a stroke, he realized the true importance of healthy lifestyle choices and continues to share his story with his community. This video was created for the American Heart Association to show at their annual event, Most Powerful Voices. At the event, survivors such as Luis share their stories and promote healthy lifestyles to residents of Detroit.

American Heart Association: Trevor's Story of Triumph

When Trevor Sullivan was 14 years old he was diagnosed with a heart disease called cardiomyopathy. After 3 months on a heart transplant list, a donor heart became available to Trevor. Trevor's story became famous when his family posted a video right when he woke up from surgery. Trevor is now back in school and living a normal life as a heart transplant survivor.

I was hired by the American Heart Association to tell Trevor's story. The video was shown at their Detroit Heart Ball event to raise donations for research and to help improve the quality of life for people like Trevor and his family.

DTE Energy: Alex Dow Award Winners Feature

Every year, DTE Energy recognizes employees for their contributions to the Metro Detroit community. 2015's recipients included 4 cable splicers who saved a man's life while they were on the job in a Detroit Alley. I was contracted by DTE Energy to shoot and edit this video with the 4 employees as they told the story of the day. I spent a morning at the Trombley Service Center garage as the team was preparing for the day.

Video series created for Oakland University's alumni engagement office to promote their annual OU Night at Comerica Park. The event drew over 1,000 students and alumni and raised money for scholarships at OU.
